  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate optional, for dipping

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine sweetened shredded coconut, granulated sugar, egg whites, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until sticky.
  4. Drop mounds of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  6. Let the macaroons cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
