  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Method
 

  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools.
  2. Prepare the apple cider mixture by whisking together apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, applesauce, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter in a medium bowl.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl: gluten-free flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fill the donut pan cavities about 3/4 full with the batter.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare the cinnamon sugar coating by mixing granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
  8. Cool the donuts for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and coat in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
