Preheat your oven to 350°F.
In a mixing bowl, combine blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir gently and set aside.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In a separate bowl, mix melted butter with milk. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
Pour batter into a greased 9x9-inch baking dish. Spoon blueberry mixture over the batter without stirring. Sprinkle remaining sugar on top.
Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
